01Overview

NPG99 builds Nord Lead 2X patches from archetype profiles. Each archetype is a recipe for a kind of sound, such as a sub bass, a reese or a sync lead. Every patch then gets its own character, so filter, envelopes, detune and modulation move together instead of being randomised one knob at a time.

Every patch is scored against playability rules and re-drawn if it fails, and no two patches in a run are near-duplicates.

02Quick Start

Choose an Archetype, or leave Auto mix for a balanced bank.
Set Variation strength. Optional: set a Seed to repeat a run.
Press Generate free patch. One patch downloads as a SysEx .mid file.
Send the file to your Nord Lead 2X from a SysEx librarian or a DAW over MIDI.

RS	Reese	Detuned saws with unison and a slow filter.
WB	Wobble	Filter LFO, resonant, built to be played rhythmically.
NR	Neuro	FM, mod-envelope bite and filter distortion.
GR	Growl	Saw and pulse with FM, heavy resonance and a hard strike.
ST	Stab	Short, violent one-shot bass for fills and hits.
BL	Bass lead	Mid-range mono bass with glide for riffs.
LD / SL	Lead, Sync lead	Bright poly leads; sync lead sweeps oscillator sync.
SY / PL	Synth, Pluck	Hooks and chords; short plucked notes.
PD / FX	Pad, FX	Slow evolving pads; risers, sweeps and impacts.

04Controls Reference

Archetype	Auto mix	Auto mix gives 80 bass and 19 other patches per 99. All bass shares the patches across the eight bass types. Any single archetype fills the whole run.
Variation strength	10-100% (65)	How far each patch moves from its archetype recipe. Low is close to the recipe, high is more extreme.
Seed	0-2147483647 (0)	Enter a number to reproduce an exact run. 0 gives a fresh result each time.

05Names and Files

Names read CC Adjective Noun, for example RS Obsidian Reese. CC is the category code and the adjective describes how that patch differs from its archetype: dark, bright, wide, grit, motion, space or clean. The Nord Lead 2X stores no patch names in its dump, so names appear in file names and in the manifest.

A bank download contains a folder per category, the 99-patch bank file (programs 1-99), NPG_manifest.csv and npg_report.txt.
